HELP: Lost all gears in 99 NV4500

Driving home from work today it was getting harder and harder to shift into gears. Finally it wouldnt go into any gear. If you turned the truck off it would go into all gears no problem. WHen the truck is on and clutch fully in and you try to force it into gear you could hear a little pulldown on the motor almost like it was trying to go in but it was still stuck in neutral. No grinding or anything. Please help, i had to have it towed to the local auto shop as i was alongside a main road partially in a lane. Maybe a broken or frayed clutch cable or something worse in the tranny?

This is in a 99 2500 4x4.

thanks in advance, Sean

Same thing happened to me.. The Clutch was shot, and the input shaft was mared by the bearing that disintergated. It could have been buffed out, but I opted to have the transmission rebuilt with new guts.. Hopefully it will last another 180000 miles..

Hope this helps.. This was not a cheap fix..
