I have a friend that has an 03 3500 2wd that is constantly making a popping noise in the front end. Turn left accelerate and it pops, go along for a while turn right, accelerate and it pops again. He has had it in DC's shop 3-4 times and they can not find any reason for it to make the noise. Another nifty thing that he has had happen with this truck is that the auto tranny has split in half (case) twice so far. He uses truck to haul nothing more than a Miller Bobcat welder in the back along with cutting torch bottles. Any clues to the POP problem????

Maybe the pop sound is the tranny case cracking.
