Help, 91 diesel stuck on highway!

A friend of mine with a 91 dodge diesel, says she has been having starting problems when its cold....When it finally fires and starts, she has hardly any power in 4th and 5th til it really gets warm....Foot to the floor and not much response. Now this morning it finally just conked out and its sitting on the highway out of harms way and will not fire. Does a 91 throw codes ? or any ideas we could try before it gets taken to the shop for the $$$$ service bill? Thanks in advance...

no codes, check fuel in tank, try loosening some injector lines and crank, if you don't get fuel there, then see if fuel is getting to the injector pump .... if none then see if it's getting past the lift pump, if none check fuel lines between tank and lift pump for obstructions or holes(sucking air) also check filter..... i think that just about covers all the easy stuff....good luck

Check your fuel shut down solenoid as well.
If it cranks normally, you definitly have a fuel problem

FIXED....Thanks guys... She had it serviced few years ago, and they said they changed all the vitals. I worked back form all the lines looking for fuel and there was a trickle only. Last thing, was i pulled the fuel filter and it said OCT-2004. Had a laugh, changed it, bled the lines and she is like brand new. Sucks, the service station took advantage of a girl and lied to her. ( she was also told today it was an injector pump and was going to cost $4000..thanks to the forum..only $25 and i got a case of Pilsner)
