headlights gone
For some reason 99, It sounds to me like you took out the headlight switch, and not the multifunction switch. The multi is the switch in the steering column with your t-signals, high-low beam, and wipers, you should not have to take the dash bezel off, just the tamper proof torx like stated above. Hope this helps

If it's in the column you are absolutely right. I did change the headlight switch, but that did give me back some of my other lights that were gone, so alls well there. I wondered why when I got in there all I found was regular phillips head screws, but I wasn't arguing. I always said that I'm a non when it comes to mecanix. Thanks for the quick reply.
It's easy, you should be able to handle it.
Only special tool you might need is a torx screwdriver, I think 15 but don't mark my words. The torx drivers that slip into a handle don't usually work because they're too fat to fit in the four deep recessed holes under the steering column shroud.

Just a crazy thougt, do you adjust your tilt steering quite often. My father's headlights went out on his ctd a few days ago and I traced it to a loose wire up inside the steering column. The wire pulled out of a large multi-wired plug. He adjust his steering wheel from full upright to full downward position every time he enters and exits.
Just a thought.
Just a thought.
Just negative battery cables? The proper way would be to disconnect both pos. and neg. from each batt and after disconnecting touch both cables pos. and neg together to discharge capacitors. There is still enough stored voltage without doing this to deploy an airbag. Seen 1 pop at a junk yard once......the car had no battery in it. At least thats what I think made it go off.

I HAVE PULLED THE COVER FROM THE STEERING COLUMN AND ALL LOOKS PRETTY SIMPLE IF I CAN FIND THIS TAMPER PROOF TORX DRIVER SOMEPLACE. I DON'T MIND CHANGING THIS SWITCH OUT EVEN THOUGH THE dealer WANTS $65 FOR IT BECAUSE I AM HOPING THAT IT WILL FIX MY BRIGHTS IN ANY CASE, BUT MY ORIGINAL THOUGHT WAS A WIRING PROBLEM SOMEWHERE BECAUSE OTHER THAN THE BRIGHT LAMPS EVERYTHING ELSE IN THE MULTIFUNTION SWITCH WORKS. DOES ANYBODY OUT THERE KNOW WHAT COLOR WIRE COMING OUT OF THE BACK OF THE LIGHT SWITCH IS THE HOT FOR HEADLIGHTS, SO I CAN SEE IF I EVEN HAVE POWER THERE. I HAVE CHECKED ALL THE CONNECTIONS AS MENTIONED EARLIER BECAUSE OF THE TILT STEERING, BUT EVERYTHING LOOKS TIGHT. THANKS FOR ALL THE RESPONSE ON THIS.
