Hard Starting Hot
Hard Starting Hot
I have a 2001 2500 with 113,000 smiles. I ran it low on fuel and it died. I still showed 1/8 tank, but I now understand not to let it go below 1/4. I got it started with ether. It ran fine, but "bucked" when Tranny downsifted under a load. While doing some research about the fuel system I was told to measure the fuel pressure. It was 10psi at idle and fell to less than 5psi when accelerated. But started fine. with no codes. With the low fuel pressure I decided to install a fass. I did so and it ran fine. I drove it to the city yesterday, a test run before I take it out of town for the weekend. It ran great, but would take a few seconds of cranking to get it started. When cool starts right up. I am now showing a P1693 code only. I also tested the batteries yesterday (with all the crank I have done, and seem to need to do I wanted to be sure the batteries where up to snuff) both batteries had a bad cell. I understand hard starting hot is a sign of a bad VP, but I find it hard to belive it is the VP because this all started when I changed the LP to a FASS and I have no VP specific codes. I need to haul some horses on about a 500 mile trip this weekend help me feel good about pulling out of the drive......
easy to figure out, get it warm enough to cause the hard start then pour the garden hose to the pump if it starts you are the recipient of a new pump, if not dig deeper. I hate to say it but given your chain of events.....start saving
