when it gets cold my truck does not like to start. i checked the resistance at the grid heater and studs;the readings were good, however one of the relays is malfunctioning. my question is can i run a jumper wire from the battery to the heater via a switch to manually turn on? the relay's go for 75 a piece..money's short and its getting cold....

go to the parts store and buy a niehoff SD27711 solenoid ...... i have had one on my truck for 3 years with no problems.
it doesn't mount the same and you will have to extend some wires but it works great
