Yep, your luck does sound like mine. Sorry to hear that about the ovhl job. That is quite a mystery for sure. Any experts out there give you any advice on the cause?

I would stay away from the 03 engine. To me, that would be a nightmare in the making. You would be better to go backwards like you say with a 12 valve. Not much to go wrong with them.

Let us know how it goes.....

Haulin, if your'e talking about the Palmer bros. out in Irondale, you better bend over and grab your ankles. I did some searches last night, but used different wording, let me check and I'll get back to you, I think I saw some 12V engines on there for between 2-3K. let you know in a few

Jeez, now you're tryin' to sell him an antique! The man needs an overvalved engine, not an underpumped one.

12 valve

Joe Watt Auto Sales and Salvage Vinita, Ok has a 12 valve for around $2,200.00 dollars. I think it is in a 1996. If this helps

Dude your looking at 7000 to 10,000 for a new cummins from dodge or cummins , I don't know where you live but there is a place called diesel performance specialists that could rebuild and beef up your engine for less than that I think. They are out of pasco wa. but have shops all over the us. These guys hold the world record land speed record for a diesel truck 700 hp and 1500 ft.lbs of torq.

Got to look at the $5750 engine today, I was not impressed. It had been hit so hard in the front that the gear-case cover was driven back into the gears and other damage. No interest.

Later I looked at and purchased a "new" long block that was built for a mid sized truck. I paid $2700 and it has never been installed. Also got to check out another '99 that had one of these installed in it.

That's what I was afraid of. That is also why I asked the question right away about visable damage to the engine way earlier in the thread. That guy is dreaming to get that money out of that engine.

If people will pay $60.00 +/- for a fuel filter from a Dodge dealer, some sucker will come along and give him what he's asking.
