Furl problems! Again
Furl problems! Again
I have a 01 Cummins turbo diesel. Last march I had the main pump crap out. I changed it and the lift pump. Now less then 10,000 miles on new pumps. My truck around 2000 rpms and up runs like a missfire. I checked my codes. it came back fuel injection pump timing failure. I could not hear the lift pump running. Unfortunatly I do not have guages. Is it common for a lift pump to go out so soon. And would that give the timing code. I dont want to replace another injector pump. The truck only has 134000 miles on it. Could it just be the lift pump?? Any help please. Thank you!
The lift pumps can go out pretty quick. Dodge replaced my VP44 and put in the in tank pump about 10 months ago. That in tank pump died last week. Thank god I had gauges, because that is the only way I would have known what was going on. I am sorry to say, but I bet you will need another VP44. When the lift pumps dies the VP44 is trying to inject fuel and pull from the tank as well. Which it is not designed to do.
the vp44 might have a warranty on it. when mine died i took it and got it changed and it lasted about a month a died. took it back they got a new pump and changed it for free no money even for labour. It had a one year warranty one it, maybe something to look into.
