fuel tank size

i just got my 03 2500 quad cab diesel. Problem is that the sticker said it had a 34 gallon fuel tank. well it got to 1/4, filled it up and only held 21 gallons. if my math is correct that makes it a 28 gallon tank. Is anyone else having the same problem?

Re:fuel tank size

Do not rely on the guage to try and determine actual volume of fuel in the tank. They will read close to empty and there is still fuel in the tank to keep people from running them out and damaging the system. You do not ever want to run the common rail pressure system dry, or get out the wallet!

Welcome to the site!. These fuel gauges show empty long before you get there. Diesel has lots of dirt and other contaminants in it so you do not want to run on the bottom of the tank. Not to mention the damage you can do should you do the ultimate no-no and run it out of fuel.<br> Consider it empty when it says so and save yourself a lot of heartaches and greenbacks

Re:fuel tank size

These guys are right I ran mine out once (last time), not a good idea. When it ran out there were 5 gallons still in it, so you never will see a fillup within that many. Just keep it full, not empty.
