Fuel Solenoid

Bare with me,Im new to this site and to the diesel family. I have a 94 Dodge and the fuel solenoid took a crap. I replaced the solenoid and it only lasted about 3 weeks and then it fried. I thought about putting a pull cable on and getting away from the solenoid. Is this a good Idea? Is there anything else I need to do if I put a cable on? Is there a cable made for this? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for advance!!

I ran a cable and has worked flawlessly. you can get one from any heavy truck part supplier. make sure that the positioning is such that the fuel pump arm is FULL FORWARD, or you will feel it immediately.

Heres some helpful tips from Larry, and parts to order it.
I've pretty much replaced all my stuff from his site, works great.

The solenoids are indestructible, not sure why yours failed so quickly...

Seems I heard that contacts sticking in the starter feed power back to the fuel shutoff solenoid. I may be totally off on this. Hit the link above and see if Larry has a solution.

Thanks

I think Im going skip the pull cable and just replace the solenoid and the relay. I hope that will fix the problem and it wont short out again. Now what about changing out the Starter Solenoid Contacts? Has any done this and does it need to be done or is it just another way for someone to make a buck?

I've replaced mine,if your starter is working fine then don't sweat it,if it starts clicking a couple of times then better get some contacts(at least)
Maybe a plunger too.
easy to do,took about 5 minutes, after i got the starter out.
