Fuel shutoff solinoid

Fuel shutoff solinoid
What have I missed?. On my 1996 2500 last year I started having problems with the fuel shutoff soliniod. After wearing out my drivers seat, hood release, Key tumbler, and breaking my grill from opening and closing hood to lift up on the solinoid. I decided I would spend the $280 for an new solinoid. Things worked great for about a week and then it started acting up again. I have replaced Batteries, cleaned all post and connections at the battery. screwd around with relays located behind battery on drivers side. Whats next?

.....uhhhhh you did check the relays for the fuel shutdown solenoid didn't you? Those relays are up on the firewall, not in the PDC behind the battery. I find most solenoid issues involve either the blue wire connector corroded at the batt, or the relays. Relays only like 45 bucks at the dealer.

Yep, sounds like you beat all around the bush on this one, might also check the boot and if it is out of adjusment and or dirty if the boot is gone on the old one, check the adjustment on the new one, But Jbody is steering you in the right direction, check the relay on the firewall, and if the starter contacts are old and thin they can give problems also.. Hope you kept the old solenoid as it is most likely still a good one,Goodluck,,Rick
