Fuel Plate install problem
Fuel Plate install problem
I ground my own #10 plate and installed it but after the install the engine idle was too high. Also when I took it for a ride and came to a stop the engine stumbled and almost stalled. I put it into N and revved it a bit and it returned to the high idle. It did this every time I drove and came to a stop. It has a lot more power up high but not much more down low. What did I do wrong? Help.
Changing the plate usually doesn't effect anything except for fueling when you floor it or under heavy load.
Sounds to me like you may have dropped something into the AFC or the problem is totally unrelated to the work you did.
Did you slide the AFC cover full forward before tightening it down?
Has your truck had the throttle cable recall done?

Ok I found the problem. I had to move my throttle cable in order to move the shut down solenoid to get at my fuel plate. I forgot to put my throttle cable back so it had some tension on it and gave me my high idle. Pretty lame on my part, but an easy fix nevertheless. My tranny did not like the fuel plate. It slips pretty bad when the TC locks up if my foot is in it.
I tried to put AFC cover back to the stock position and as far as the throttle cable goes I did this on my Excursion and used the throttle cable from the Ford and jimmied it to work on the Cummins
Thanks for the help Bill
