Fuel line broke

Hi All,

I was just minding my own business cruising 60mph on the highway and my truck shut down. I opened the hood and after further inspection noticed one of the fuel lines that goes directly to one of the injectors snaped. My truck is an '06 Quad 2WD 5.9 Auto with ONLT 43K miles. See Pics. Does anyone know:

1. What causes this

2. I do have a programer but only the Edge Mileage Max 35HP 70 Torque so wouldn't think that it's too much pressure for it.

3. Any chance I can put a flex fuel line temporarily until I get the part? Can I get one made at an AutoZone or O'Reillys?

4. My problem is Sunday tomorrow and nothing open. I tought of going to a Tractor Supply or Rural King to see if they have a fuel line for a tractor or someting.

5. I actually did get a part from a Dodge dealer but the Ding Dong gave me the wrong one on account of he nor I know how the cyclinders or injectors are numbered. Start at 1 at front of truck or 1 from Cab to front of truck. If you start at front of Truck then it's #4 but from Cab to front it's # 3.

6. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Do you think a truck stop open 24 hours would have something like this?

Thanks for your help, I live in Kokomo Indiana by the way.

Barry

As said, you start counting from the front of the engine so that is the #4 fuel line and it's common for the blue clamp that holds it in place to loosen over time and the result is what happened to you. As far as I know, the part is only available from Dodge or a Cummins supply shop.

I check all six clamps at every oil change. At 111K miles, so far so good for me.

They should be recalled as a safety hazard ,could cause a fire.
Someone should get on the case.

On the common rail engines, those lines are under very high pressure (several thousand PSI) . Do NOT attempt to rig it !!!
