Front Wheel Damage

Front Wheel Damage
I went off the road yesterday and during the recovery process up my front passenger side wheel assembly. As you can see in the pictures obviously I need to replace the axle shaft, U joint, probably at least the lower ball joint. My question here is if you look at the picture you can see there is some metal shaved off of the axle housing? What damage do you see from the pictures and what would be the best course of action? I just replaced that U joint recently so it should be pretty easy to press the hub off, my real concer is the area around where the axle goes in, it appears that is not an easily replaced part.

If you look at the 3rd picture you will see the metal shavings on the edge of the area where the axle shaft goes in(to the right of the joint and yoke). Do you think that damage is just cosmetic? Also do you think the bearing in there is damaged that allowed the axle to move enough to scrape there.

U need to replace the axle shaft and id replace the stub shaft as well. If u can find used save some $$, the shaft pulls out and goes in easy, just go slow so u dont bugger up the inner axle seal, grease the shaft end and clean out the tube, sand will destroy the seal. did mine a few years ago and its not fun to replace inner seals.

Use www.car-parts.com to shop for used parts. This will at the least give you a used vs. new price comparison.

Hodge, thanks for that link. I found an axle shaft down the road for 100.00. Now there is another issue, the abs light is on and the brakes are locked up on that wheel. any ideas what would cause this? I opened the bleeder valve and was able to get the wheel to spin but what would cause it to lockup in the first place? I will not know if the brakes will lockup again once they are engaged until I replace the axle shaft. I am trying to figure out all the damage before the insurance adjuster gets here so I can point it out to him.
