Transmission is in the shop now.
Quick question - my nv4500 in in the shop right now and the tech is talking to me about brass synchros. I know it came with carbon fiber. It is a 2wd with 235K on it. Is there any reason, reliability/smooth shifting etc, that I should not go with the original? They say they will charge 1500 to rebuild it with the brass, and they have never had any problems. I understand the oil would be cheaper, but I don't feel good about the brass where it wasn't really meant for it. Any quick advice before he calls back?
