fp gauge hookup
I've seen references to "gutting" the schrader valve for a quick/cheap hookup
between the fuel system and the isolator. Can the valve on the back side of
the filter canister be used? Looks like it is the infeed side from the lift pump. I
know a banjo bolt on bottom is best, but I don't have time now and am likely
to get the big line relocate kit soon anyway. 1. If I dump fuel pressure and
remove that valve, do the "guts" unscrew like an old bicycle tube? If so, the
local NAPA guy can build me a hose to connect to the isolator from the valve.
This is on an '01.5 QuadCab
***PS: If you're thinking about an overhead mount.....double check the
mirror spacing from the intersection of the windshield and headliner. Mine
was only 3.5" and the mirror needed to be removed and lowered another 2.25"
.......I have an appointment with the glass man tomorrow am. New windshield.
$326.00!!! That is some fine glue the dodge boys use to stick those on!!!

On the .01.5 ( at least mine ) the fuel line from the lift pump runs up to the
top of the filter canister (back side, towards firewall) and that banjo has a
Schrader Valve on it. Looks like it would require a shorter line than the VP44
tap and I don't need anymore lines/wires/convolute clabbering up that space.
Can't hardly get to the PS fill cap now!!!
Thanks for the input. Thought my computer was broke.

Fred....its a good idea to leave the schraeder port free for test purposes.
Get a tapped banjo bolt from Genos and install it, and a needle valve, and your line to the guage on the fuel filter outlet (under the filter).

Schrader
I know what you're saying, doc. But I've gotta hit the road Friday am. FP or
no FP...hauling my fiver back to Indiana factory for repairs. Got the pod in
tonight and every thing works except the FP and the lights. The instruction
sheet that came with my Isspros said to "tap the big blue wire" under the
steering column for the light circuit....but that turns out to be ignition on
only, not a light circuit. Anyone know what wire to tap for lights??? This is
an '01.5 CTD.
Also, can the banjo seals be reused? Its a long way the the DD but I'll go
if I must. Gonna dump fp in the morning and attempt to gut the Schrader
to hook-up the hose. No needle valve yet. Gonna get a Vulcan BL kit soon
and it comes with it's own tap, etc.
Allow me to repeat: Be VERY careful banging around on that windshield mirror
mounting button. That cost me $323....and....the replacement windshield came from the factory with the button installed!!!! I am now thinking I'll just
leave the sob off and drive with the side mirrors like the big boys do.
Thanks for the help, all. You are a great bunch...young and old. I can tell the
difference. (What EXACTLY is a "fo shizzle" anyway?}
