flat spot in throttle
flat spot in throttle
i have a very annoying flat spot in my throttle when i am driving! it's fine one minute, then i go to give it more gas and there is nothing there. i have to let off and let the RPM's go below 1,000 . then it is fine again. any help would be great!!!!!!!!! it's a 1998.5 by the way. thanks
I have the same issue w/mine. I think it's the TPS/APPS. When you drive at the same speed(same throttel position) for extended periods the sensor develops a "worn" spot and is no longer readable by the sensor. From what I've read it could possibly be cleaned and last a little longer but the symptom will occur again and eventually go out. Someone chime in if they think otherwise.
If the check engine light hasn't come on, I've cured mine by removing the black plastic cover then the 3 -13mm bolts holding the TPS/APPS assembly, turning it over then disconnecting then reconnecting the wiring connector 3 to 4 times to get a better connection. One of the pins was discolored and the improved connection helped....once in 2006 and once more a year later, this last spring.
i tried doing what u told me to do but it didn't work. and my check engine light haven't come on!!! anything else to try or mabey its something different. i already put new lift pumps in it so it can't be that!

Try the APPS reset procedure.
Disconnect your batteries for 30 minutes, reconnect them, turn the keyswitch on then slowly mash the throttle all the way to the floor then ease it back up...test ride.
Many chain type auto parts stores will scan your computer for free, give that a try and we'll discuss any codes that might show.

thanks but i already tryed reseting the apps sensor by that procedure and it worked but when i shut the truck off at my local CVS store it seemed to come back on and started acking funny again. i'm thinking it could be the tps/apps sensor after all!!!!
funny thing is that the problem just went away, idk what i did to cause it but it's gone for now!!!! but yes i cleaned the sensor prongs with brake clean, the plug had some corrosion on it. and i reset the apps sensor by the correct procedure!!!
