finding the crank sensor on a 02 ctd

im trying to find the crank sensor on my brothers 02 and are not having much luck finding it. the dealership put it on the computer and that is what code it is throwing. would appreciate any help here because it wont start. thanks.

should be the CPS. not crank, but cam position sensor.

It is located underneath the injection pump, toward the block. Goes into the back of the gear case, and is held in by an allen head set screw.

Bit of a pain to get at, but it can be done. Just be prepared to be mildly irked.

Also, a set of long allen head sockets for a 3/8 ratchet are a good idea. The short version tends to bind between the body of the socket, and the body of the sensor.

thanks for the info. didnt think it was called a crank sensor but were going off of what the computer printout said.
