Engine Quits but restarts
Today I unplugged the Vp44 connector checked it out . I see nothing wrong so I tapped the GRD. and soldered in a wire took it to the Neg BAT post.
Did the same thing On Number 7 (the hot wire in) to the VP) (tapped) and soldered in a wire hooked to a test lite, Grounded the lite taped it to the snow plow frame where I could see it EZ.
Took it out for a spin.Put the TRK in the attitude where it gives me all this grief Usual Nose dwn in a driveway right rear up and Viola !! The engine stops and the Lite is out
So What does this prove...the power from the ECM quit ?
Or Pwr to the ECM quit ?
One thing, I think it rules out the VP pump since it quits when the PWR quits.
HHEELLP !!

thumper549, it is tough to help you out if you do not respond back to us. Did you try swapping out the “Fuel System” relay in the PDC? It is the relay in the lower left. Try swapping it with the “Horn” relay about 2” to the right.
Your lamp test shows the power to the ECM is intermittent and is the reason the lift pump stops. (Before you rewired the lift pump.)
The ignition switch provides a trigger signal to the Fuel System relay. One common problem is the multi-pin connector in the steering column that gets intermittent with the tilt steering wheel.
I would try:
1) Jiggle the Fuel Pump relay with the engine at idle
2) Swap that relay with the one for the horn
3) Try tilting the steering wheel with the engine at idle
4) Jiggle the ignition key to check for a bad switch
If none of this helps you will need to trace the wiring from the ECM to the PDC and back to the ignition switch.
Good luck

Bent valves,
Thanks for the reply
HUH ? 4th post up there ..thought I responded to everything and gave the up date as to what I was / am doing...
You are right and it is intermittent...Now to isolate where.
So far the only thing I have not checked is the steering thing you are talking about....I do suspect the problem to north of the ECM
I just can not for the life of me figure out why this happens at the angle of the dangle (rear high and right rear wheel a little high then the other)
I have crawled around under there looking for the obvious....but the situating is attitude related..nothing shows.
So once I hook a hot wire up to the ECM and all works..I will keep moving up stream till this no longer fixes the problem.
Then I will know the area is just back toward the ECM some
Thanks for the reply
