I think I know whats wrong, but I just wanted to get some more opinions. My engine misses during hard accelerating in 5th and 6th gear. It runs fine while cruising but if you mash the pedal on the floor it just misses and cuts out like a couple bad injectors. Also, now it has taken to dying after I first start it, when the engine is cold, while letting out on the clutch, it just stops like you turned off the key but starts right back up and runs like a champ. Also, sometimes, not all the time, it's hard to start when it's hot. You crank and crank a couple times, then it starts right up. I have ECM error codes 1693, 0216, 0251 and 0252. I have already checked my pump tap wire and its making a good connection. I'm guessing my VP44 is taking a dump, right?

Also, it is the original IP. I just changed the fuel filter, and I have plenty of LP pressure.

 

Given your fuel injection codes of 216,251, and 252 I would suspect the VP44 front housing diaphragm has blown and the timing shuttle is stuck. Likely time for a rebuilt pump.

Since you are in the tractor racket, pull the article from Blue Chip Diesel's website and take it to your injection tech. The parts for the fix are less than $250 if he/she can get the lined timing shuttle (rear) case. Just be sure to also replace that front diaphragm, a lot of people do not and it will just blow the shuttle again in about a year if not replaced.
