Unhappy engine light code P0514

I could not find this on the one list I found. I believe it has something to do with the oil pressure as it was extremely high on the guage and the engine light was on. is it a switch or the oil pump itself

0514 is the battery temp sensor. It is just a pita code. nuisance really. dont worry at all about it.

it will go out after a few warm up/cool down cycles if the trouble that set the code has gone away.

welcome to DTR by the way. you didnt list what the truck is and where you are located. did the weather just change significantly? that can cause the screwy battery temp code. as long as that is the only code listed, just ignore it until it goes away, may take a few days.

thanks for the welcome - I've found this forum before but kind of freaked when the pressure stayed so high as I am going on a 3 hour one-way drive next weekend.

I am in Wilton, CA (near Sacramento) and have a 2500. I have always driven trucks (ford/chevy/gmc) and this is my first dodge.

the weather is changing but it was not a sudden change.

it was interesting to find out how to get the code - never knew how to do that -

A common code.
Mine was "fixed" and came back.
The only way I knew it came back was to do the ingnition key code check thingy.
I believe there is a TSB, but I have not got arround to doing it.
I believe it is just an annomoly with no real consequenses.
I believe it is triggered by under hood temps caused by having the block heater on for hours at a time ...could be wrong tho.
Has anybody had the TSB done successfuly?

TSB's are for information, they are not covered by warranty.

What? I don't know of anyone that's had to pay for the flash laid out in '06 Hard start/ TSB 18-003-06 REV. A. Or do I not understand what you meant?

If the truck is still under warranty and you take it in for the complaint covered by a TSB, then they will fix it for free. If it's out of warranty, they will charge you to do the repair. Safety recalls are free whether you are still within warranty or not.
