Engine cut out on highway
Engine cut out on highway
Ok I am going nuts.
My truck on the highway just cuts out for a split second. Sometimes Bam Bam Bam multiples. Now the more boost I’ve got the harder it hits. And my tack and boost both drop just a bit for just a split second. And it happens more going up hills. It’s like an ignition problem on a gasser.

Ramin,
Eyeball the thread "Autopsy result on lift pump" in the 24 Valve Engine and Drivetrain forum.
I'm getting ready to start another thread dealing with a problem similar to yours. Just getting all my info ready.

Ramin, your problem sounds like the injection pump is about to give up the ghost. I want you to do a little trick witht he key switch. Turn the key ON - OFF - ON - OFF - ON and then watch your digital odometer. write down any codes that show up and post them here.
BTW I notice you have a 2004, I imagine you are still under warranty. If it is something expensive, like your injection pump just bring it back to Dodge and have them replace it for free.

Yea I forgot to mention the codes im getting. P0016 and P0341.I dont know what the first one is but it is always there. And the second is camshaft position sensor circuit range/performance. That one comes and goes.
P0341 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Range/Performance
P0016 Crankshaft/Camshaft Timing Misalignment. A rationality error has been detected for camshaft position out of phase with crankshaft.
Thats two codes pointing at your Camshaft sensor. I don't know if works in the 3rd gens like it does in the 2nd gens but, when the camshaft sensor acts up you have three things happen :
1 - the tach drops to 0 because the tach gets its RPM reading from the camshaft sensor (CPS)
2 - the voltage guage drops to 12V. The computer knows the engine is running from the CPS signal. If it loses that signal then computer thinks the engine is not running and since it also controls alternator output it shuts that off too.
3 - The computer also kills the A/C compresor the same way it does the alternator output.
Thats the way it works in the 2nd gen trucks, not sure if it stayed the same for the 3rd gens.
Hope this helps.
BTW I saw your PM but I decided to reply here.
