Parking Brake Adjustment

My parking brake doesn't seem to be holding as well as it should on the slight incline in my driveway. Is this adjustable? If so, how easy is it? An '02 (rear discs) 4x4.

Thanks,
~Rob

I know theres an adjustment in your drums to move the pads closer to the drums for when they wear. Also under the truck is a turnbuckle like thing on the ebreak line you could probably use if its way out of wack.

Moose10,

If you aren't working out of a garage, you'd better "git-er-done" quick. The "Termination Dust" is on the peaks...

Pete

ps. I don't know about the rear disc's, I could help you if you had drums... somebody else should chime in.

I am facing the same situation. On the rear disk brakes there is no adjustment. The disk brakes have mini brake shoes on the rear rotors. The only adjustment is to even the tension between right and left brake shoe.
My truck is scheduled to have new brake shoes installed on Friday. We have new disk pads available to replace as well if needed. I have 306000 kms on the truck now.

The park brake is adjustable, but if I recall correctly you have to remove the disc to do it.
When the disc is off, adjust the park brake shoes out, so that when the disc is re-installed, there is approx .020" clearance between the linings and the drum surface. This will give you optimum braking performance without dragging.
