Electrical Issue
Electrical Issue
I am having an electrical issue with my truck that has disabled the starting circuit. When I apply power directly to the small lead that comes out of the starter it will crank, but not when I turn the key. I don't think it's the ignition switch itself, as I can hear a relay or solenoid clicking under the hood when I turn the key, although I have yet to determine the source of the sound as I only have one pair of hands until one of my neighbors gets home from work. The clicking is not the starter relay in the box though, as I removed it but it didn't eliminate the sound.
The only other thing I've found that isn't working is the power windows. I have checked and found that I don't have any power to the power window fuse either. Any ideas?

You say you hear a clicking. The relay will not make an audible click. The solenoid will. Do you see 12 volts on the wire to the starter when someone turns the key to start? The window fuse will get power only when the ignition switch is in the "on" position. Hope this helps. let us know what you find.
Yes, that was my thought as well. Unfortunately I got the last 30a fuse at the auto parts store, so I have yet to get my spare, but I will certainly be doing so.
Worst case scenario I could always do what I did to get to the auto parts store in the 1st place: borrow the 40a from the blower motor.
