Doing water pump in 30 minutes..

Getting ready to do my pump in a few minutes, and the seal that came with it is a square cross section solid ring.

Per the instructions, it says to use tacker if it's a gasket, or lubricant if it's an o ring.

It's really neither. Should I use nothing?

Thanks.

Either should work , clean the mating surfaces well .
The thing I do not like about silly cone , is that I see a lot of others using so much of it , that is some use way too much , squeezes out excess that can into things you do not want .

well, pump went in w/o a hitch, but now the radiator drain valve won't shut properly, and I have a bubble somewhere.

She's overheating really fast.

On the front left above the exhaust manifold by cylinder 1 there is an allen plug to the water jacket in the head. Its on top. Take it out and fill it up from there.

happen to be able to snap a pic of the right one perhaps? I see a few there (might be head bolts).

Ok, there is 1 small one, and 2 large ones before I run into the heater core hose.

Small one? Or the hex head bolt?

It's the small plug in between the 2 head bolts

ding ding ding ding.

Let her cool down, pulled that, was bone dry. Pulled rad cap, and kept filling, and coolant appeared at the small bolt. Bolted it back up, and topped of the rad.

Think I'm gtg, time will tell.

Thanks alot
