What kind of truck is it?

Have you check the fuses, including the ones under the hood?

Tranny not shifting out of second is known as "limp" mode.
Is it starting in 2nd as well?

You should have an accompaning code.
Autozone or any major parts place should be able to read the codes stored in the ECM/PCM.

The instruments are controlled by a computer, either it is bad, or the connection from the dash to that computer might be disconnected or dirty.
This would also show up as a code when you get it scanned.

Actually yes it does start in 2nd....it all happened at the same time so...
I checked the block on the firewall under the dash it is still fully connected, I also unplugged three connections from the ECM and their was no corosion. I will take it to someone to have it scanned, thanks so much for your help Phox. Do you know how much a computer would run me if that is the problem??

The 3 connector box on the firewall is actually the PCM, the Dodge computer.
The Cummins ECM is mounted to the engine, driver side.

No idea what either goes for, if that ends up being the problem,
more than likely it's just a sensor or connector problem.
