Diesel fuel getting into the crankcase ?

My neighbor has a 1st gen CTD that is putting a quart of fuel into the crankcase in about 2 hours running time...engine runs and sounds normal...any suggestions on finding the leak...seems like a dripping injector would blow excess fuel out the exhaust...I was also thinking about the front seal on the injection pump letting fuel run down the front of the engine and into the oil pan. The injection pump was rebuilt 3 years ago. Thanks.

Lift pump or the front pump seal are about the only ways to get fuel in the oil without clouds of white smoke. Throw a lift pump at it and see what happens.

Read this on another forum:
Thats how we do it at Cummins on any of our engines. Put dye in the fuel filter, run it for 30 to 60 seconds. Pull the valve cover and black light it. If it's an injector or the head is pourous then you will see it. If it is the seals in the pump, you could black light it with front cover removed.

Hope this helps.
