dead pedal or trans issue

02 2500 4x4. edge ez. turbo saver. otherwise stock. initial drive away had truck either in converter lockup or dead pedal. hard to tell. its good if i stop and go from then on it drives fine. just replaced apps sensor as it was going dead pedal at 1500 rpm almost everytime. truck runs good after initial issue. almost everytime its starts from sittin. all nite or after work even.. trans issues or ???. even wrapped all apps wires with tinfiol to rule out any elec interference. all connections good. gonna unhook the ez next

any thoughts!

......my thought is that your post is incredibly hard to comprehend. From what I can see through the fog of reading it, your trans may be starting out in 2nd gear. It would be advised to get access to a scan tool and check codes or read the gov psi when this occurs.

Almost sounds like converter drain back.

Truck doesn't want to get up and go after it sits all night.

If this is the case, try putting it in neutral for a minute before trying to drive off.

Noticed it's your first post, welcome to the board.
You'll learn a lot, and most likely spend a lot.

I would think that converter drainback would be more toward, "won't move when in gear", or, "free revs when first accelerating in gear". The fact he indicated "drive away" had me thinking the truck was on it's way, but he was having to apply more pedal than normal (dead pedal), and the relation to "lock up" would be like having an anchor dragging behind you which is alot what your truck feels like when leaving in 2nd. .....as always. My .02 guess.

The 0216 code is your problem!!!! You are the lucky reciever of a new VP-44 injection pump. If you are not still in warranty (Cummins wise), you are going to become about $2,000.00 lighter in the wallet pocket. Sorry to be the bearer of the bad news.

Good luck!!

While the po216 can be a bad thing, you'd be surprised how many trucks I see with that code stored and no drivability probs. The codes you did get are the ECM codes. Would be interesting to see what if anything is stored in the JTEC. One thing I forgot to mention is to have you pull the gear select manually down into first as you accelerate away from a stop (push the pedal, truck starts moving, pull it down into low). If you feel it bump from second to low, you'll need to start investigating the electronic side of your trans.
