Dead pedal on hills

My truck just started to have a dead pedal on hills. If I hit the O/D off button or kick down the throttle power comes back. When I go downhill or drive on level ground it returns to normal. I have read several threads re: cleaning connections, cleaning boost sensor and cleaning/resetting APPS. I will try these and see what happens. But in the meantime, does this sound like something someone else has had encountered before? I dont want to run out and replace the VP44 unless all else fails.

Thats the one.

There are some places a little cheaper than others, I believe you can pick one up for right around $1,000 even now.

You need a new VP44, as do I. I have the same code, and dead pedal when accelerating up to speed with the trailer in behind. Mine's under warranty, hopefully, I won't get hassled about my gauges and minor mods.

I've been putting off getting a new one for about 4 months or so....it just keeps gettin worse and worse....used to only do it on long streches of freeway now it does it when its not up to opp. temp or even short streaches of constant speed. Anyway good luck!

Yeah, sounds like my truck.I keep putting it off too.I need the truck to help my girlfriend move in the next three weekends. Being its only city driving I'm hoping it doesnt sh*t the bed. I have a mechanic who can put in the VP, and I'll have him install the pyro/boost/trans/FP gauges. I guess the Smarty will have to wait.
