cummins oil pressure sending unit conversion
cummins oil pressure sending unit conversion
I just bought a new pressure sending unit for my 2000 dodge diesel 24 valve. the original part (p/n 3348749) is obsolete and replaced by p/n 4076930, which comes with a wiring harness to adapt it to my truck wiring. This also calls for recalibration of the ECM. the original sending unit was a 3-wire connector, and the new one is a single wire. Apparently you plug the new harness wire into cavity K on a 23 pin connector and plug the other end into the new sending unit. You then place a protective cap (provided with the harness) over the old connector. Then you recalibrate the ECM. Unfortunately, they don't say how to do this. Has anyone done this conversion, and how is it performed? Also, where is the 23-pin connector they refer to?
If you change your mind, you can get a direct replacement for the original pressure sensor. No need to recalibrate or adapt anything. Just replace and go.

I just replaced mine for $103.00 shipped to my door from here:

Did you choose the single wire sensor for a reason?
I know the cost is much lower, but it seems like too much hassle to get it working.

I already have the parts from cummins. I didn't choose the single wire connection; cummins sent "the replacement part with the new wiring harness" and this is what I got. They also didn't tell me that this installation would require recalibration of the ECM. They did say that there was no return on electrical parts. Any ideas on how to use what I have?
