Compressor Seized!
Compressor Seized!
Alright, so my buddy and I left San Diego to come to Vegas for the weekend today in an effort to start the truck the compressor seized and the belt went bye bye! We ended up finding a belt for the truck from Napa that is for the (No A/C) trucks, and the belt is still too long for some reason. Do you have to adjust the belt tensioner to a different angle or something? Or will this even work with the compressor still in the truck. We are stuck, and we are suppose to leave in the morning. Hopefully someone on here can lead us in the right direction, or let us know if we need to start looking at an alternative means of transportation to get back to San Diego. Thanks in advance, Derek
You should have a belt routing diagram in the engine bay, both with and without a/c. I believe that the routing is different enough that you can't just substitute a no-a/c-belt. I may be wrong, but check that diagram.
Not sure about your year truck but on my 1991 1st. Gen the serpentine belt takes a different route for the non A/C mode.
Look for a sticker somewhere under the hood that looks like this.
