Clutch goes to mush

2001 6 speed 4x4. 85k miles.
Lately whenever I have to feather the clutch, it will not disengage even when I have the pedal to the floor. If I let it out and push it in again it works. The first time this happened I almost hit the car in front of me at a stop sign, but I slammed on the brakes and turned off the ignition just before hitting them.
Are these Hydraulic systems? I suspect I have a bad line that may be expanding a bit.

Anybody have something similar happen?

Thanks in advance

Hydraulic, sounds like you got air into the system, check your fluid level.

They wear out, fact of life. It is a sealed unit, so checking the fluid may or may not be germaine. New one from a dealer about $100. Heavy duty replacement from Southbend Clutch about $300.
