Chevy transmision line quick disconnect

Has anyone here done a transmision on a ~96 and up chevy? My brother broke his auto and we can't get the quick disconnect line disconnected at the tranny. You slide the plastic cap thing back, then there is a clip in there. How do you get that clip out? I've been tring to tap it with a screw drive but no dice. Anybody get into one of these? Truck is 98 Chev 1500, 305 engine.

Thanks in advance!!!

There is special set of tools availible at most any autoparts for under $10 ($30 if you get fancy) that are needed to disconnect the lines.

They will come out with a probe and some patience. Make sure you catch them if you use a probe, they will fly across the shop if you don't. Overhaul kit comes with new clips.

Thanks for the ideas guys, I appreciate them! We ended up unscrewing the fittings and then after the tranny was out, seeing how they come apart. I was picking at the wrong part originally. Finally got it back together and it works, so that's a load off!

Thanks again!
