hey...

yesterday check engine came on, then went off, then came on, and is still on...now is hard to start, and once started it idles funny and the tach goes crazy....once you start driving all the problems go away...

its a 98.5 so we gotta go to autozone to get the codes pulled...


any ideaas?

...sounds like the Crankshaft position sensor (CKP).....does the ammeter show above 14v when this is happening?

P0336 Crankshaft Position Sensor Performance
P0380 Glow Plug/Heater Circuit "A" Malfunction
P1693 Tachometer Circuit Low Voltage
P1690 ECM Loop Overrun

 

What you need to do , is clear all those codes , then start the truck and see which ones come back , but it sure sounds like the Crank sensor bought the farm.

 

Mike, My truck just started doing the same thing with the tachometer. What did you end up finding wrong?
