HO and other engine
04 Models have 2 different HP ratings. There is a dataplate on the engine up near the valve cover on the right side. It will say 305 or 325. 305 is a 04. 325 is a 04.5. Hope this helps.

Physical differences, 305 hp/555 torque on the 04 3.5 downpipe, no cat, better millage usually.
04.5 full 4" exhaust, cat, 325hp/600 tq. a few otehr things but a lot that you would never see unless you looked real hard.
Don't think either one has anything to make it significantly better than the other.....other than hp/tq ratings.

I think he means the difference between the HO and the SO in the '04 model year.
The SO has 235 or 250 HP and a cat
The HO has 305 HP and no cat (federal engine). It has gallery cooled pistons and, I think, a different oil pump and something else, maybe different pistons. Not sure other than the gallery nozzles.
Just look on the valve cover, drivers side, for the HP and you'll know which engine it is.
