Charging system cutting out

At night my charging system quits charging above, say 1,000 RPM (guess) but charges normally at low RPM. Any ideas?

Check the gap on the crank position sensor. Should be 0.050", check it with a brass feeler gauge.

You might also want to look at the brushes in the alternator.

I had the same. Had it checked at the auto parts place. Found out it was the alternator. If yer handy, just replace the brushes. If not, they run about $250 w/exchange.
