bulb out light

I own a 3500 dodge Ram 2003
recently we towed a camper and from the time we disconnected and drove around in the truck we started getting a light out blinking light and a ding , ding towarn that a light was out. The problem was ,that there wasn`t a light out at all. we took it to the dealership and thought they fixed the problem. Well we thought wrong we towed our camper again and now the light out light blinks and it dings continously. Is there anyone out there that has the same problem that we are having? If so how did you solve it?
Thanks C.J.

Welcome to the board.

There have been many recent threads on this. Try a search for "bulb out" or "taillight." Basically one of the taillight assemblies is getting a good enough connection to make the light bulb work but bad enough to cause the "bulb out" light to illuminate.

Usually it's the left rear bulb. I would buy 2 and change both side's.

Funny thing.....this same thing started happening to me this morning but I was pulling nothing. It was just out of the blue. I have tried to be sure when it happens (under what specific conditions) and it does seem to only happen (at least for now) when the lights are on. I thought cruse control and radio had bearing, but that does not seem to be so.

One more thing...mine only seems to be bad enough right now to cause "lamp out" light to flicker on and off and NOT with every "ding."

I will check out the bulbs and see if it gets better!

Since it only fails when you tow your camper, lt's not the truck. It's the camper lights or wiring. Are you using the gnd. wire thru the plug or depending on a gnd. connector thru the hitch ball?

Your going to get really tired of the light out light and the ding, but give it about two weeks and the trouble bulb is going to burn out. I also agree that it's most likely the left rear brake light bulb.
