Exclamation Broke Down - Arizona

My dad just called and they are broke down just East of Tucson Arizona. He was able to coast the truck into an RV park. He said that the throttle linkage broke. What broke is a threaded link that is 1/2 left hand thread and 1/2 right hand thread. It is a 1997 1 Ton CTD 4X4 auto.

He is at the Voyager RV Resort; 8701 S. Kold Rd. His cell is 509-680-0618. Name is Lyn. Perhaps someone has a contact in the area. Hard for me to do much from Washington State.

Appreciate any help that is offered.

Loren

Breaking down on Friday night has to be one of the worse times.

I think we have a member named JBODY that lives in the Tucson area. You might send him a PM and see if he can point your dad in the right direction.

Check out this site and see if you can find more members in the area.

If that's the ball & socket type linkage, where the socket pops off the ball & all you have is "idle", that's pretty easy to "temporarily" fix. Had this happen, a number of times on my First Gen.('91.5 W-250).

Pop the socket back on & tie it into place with something (I used a tie from a breadbag, the first time). This is not a permanent fix, however, because once the socket has popped-off, the socket never has as much "grip" again. Have him go to a "Cummins Dealer" for the part. They use a better quality part than the Dodge dealerships & it's cheaper.

Hope this helps.

J BODY does not live close to Tucson, but there are some others that do.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Someone is giving him a ride to the dealership today. It is the ball and socket part. Hopefully they have it and he can get back on the road.

Appreciate the help that was offered.
