The back light is not comeing on when I turn the head lights on. I got the bulb out it has two wires and is about twice the size of any LED I've seen. Anyone know what to ask for?

 

I just replaced the bulb in my O/D button this weekend. I got the bulb at RadioShack. It comes with 1 1/2" long wires. Same one might work for you.

 

Like Berner said. It is a Radidio Shack replacement bulb or a trip to DC to buy a new headlight switch to get the replacement. You will have to trim the 2 wires that come off of the bulb to get it to fit properly. I had to replace same about 1 year ago. The replacement bulb is still working fine to this day.....

No-go on the Radio shack thing. They didn't have it. It is not listed at NAPA At this time I'm ready to go to the dreaded dealer and see what they $tif me for.

 

Dealer cannot help with bulbs like that.

They have the O/D off light bulbs #2182 so they probably have what you are looking for. Post back the headlight backlight bulb number as I need to replace mine and want to tear into it with the correc tbulb on hand.

 

Mine's been dead since I first bought the truck. Sometimes it comes on, sometimes it doesn't. I just learned to deal with it. I've got enough lights on that side of the dash anyways.

 

The RadioShack bulb I used is a #272-1141. It wasn't an exact replacement but it fit into the switch. Those little bulbs are hard to find, but worth it if you can solder. An O/D switch is $60. I paid $3 for the bulb.

Good news the dealer had one, not in the book on the shelf. Part number 05015732AA they got me $3.50 for that one.

Thanks for all the help. The radio shack here has NO control over what they get, says them. Who knows that might be BS. They DO NOT CARY any such critter.

Dealing with it being out: is what I been doing and it has Pi$$ed me off. That is just not an option anymore.

They must not have recognized me they were decent and even gave a carp about what they were doing. Kinda threw me for a loop.
