broke down again crank no start

ok last nite i replaced the lp that went bad ran fine, then this morning hard start drove it 5 miles shut off the truck tried to restart and hard start tried getting home and died about a mile from home had to have it towed again

the truck was trying to die out and I hit the gas pedal and it came back for a mile before shutting down tach was going goofy and now i have p1693 code

I have fuel at the injectors when I loosened the lines and had someone crank it not even trying to start and i disconected the ez edge still no good

my brother is bringin the snapon tool home after work but i would like to try and get it fixed, with fuel at the injectors i am guessing the vp44 is ok?

It is possible that when the LP went bad the load on the ECM was too high and it fried. I think p0230 is a code for the transfer pump circuit being out of range. What pump did you replace it with?

if the ecm is shot i will buy one i just can't afford to start throwing parts at the truck and have it be the vp44 in the end,i just don't understsand how i have 20 psi fp and fuel at the injectors but the truck won't run, if it were a gas job I would say ok no spark but i am lost on these diesels

ok i just went out and was cranking her she tried fireing so I put on the charger for a few minutes and cranked till she did fire and is now running but the engine lite is on? did clearing the codes make it run? i will find out tonight what the new codes are, since it is running does this eliminate the vp44 as the problem?

I understand about not throwing money at it...that can be really expensive. I'm glad to hear it is running. I will be interested to hear what the new codes are. VP44 stuff can be intermittant from what I read. Given that it is running it is probably not the ECM. Maybe more codes will show tonight. Have you tried the key on-off-on-off-on trick to see if codes flash up again?

Stupid question, but are all gauges reading "normal?"

the best thing to do is take it in to a shop you trust and get a real diagnosis...... a forum is not the place to fix your problem. sometimes you get the correct information but don't count on it.... i've been in the automotive field for years and never could give an accurate diagnosis over the phone/internet. one thing about it, it's free!
