Blinkers ...AGAIN!!

Well my left front blinker stopped working again. I have a plow setup and the dealer said it is causing this. The right front is wired same as left and does not have a problem. Well they said all they do is reset code when i bring truck in and it's fine?? How can i reset code myself? I looked at wiring and can't find a problem. Rear blinker is fast on that side and all bulbs are good. Dealer has told me that the new trucks have sesitive wiring? Any help? Thanks!

the dealer is giving you a bs answer because they don't know what is going on. you need to get a volt/ohm meter and start at the light bulb and work your way back to the problem. my bet is that you will find a chaffed wire.

If your rear blinker thats on your left hand turn signal circuit is blinking fast then you have a short in that circuit which is usually caused by a burnt out bulb wheather it be in the front or rear of the truck it doesnt matter cause its on the same circuit. You may also have a wire that is cracked or chaffed like said above and will be either arcing itself out on the frame rail or could be touching another cracked or chaffed wire be side it which could cause this aswell. There are a few other things it could possibly be like a bad ground or a faulty relay but its not as common. I know anytime I have had this problem its usually a bad bulb or just a loose connection with the bulb, even though it might look ok sometimes there not, happy troubleshootin to ya!!!

Maybe you need to flush the blinker fluid and replace with the new synthetic stuff ? Sorry, just couldn't resist! I would be betting on a poor connection with the plow lighting. heck , even the switch could add enough resistance to turn it off and set the code. Double check all connections and seal them with dielectric grease as well.

what happens if you unplug the plow lights? does the problem continue. if it solves it check the wires that go from the plow to the factory wiring. thast were i would start anyways.

Bulbs are good. I am going to just hook the blinker wire up to the truck blinker only and not worry about plow blinker. I looked to trace wire but....wow the wire... i lose track of it in harness. I guess i can't reset code? Will un hooking battery reset code? Next week when temp goes up also will look at connections. The plow setup has been on for quite a while before all this starting happening. Where do i get synthatic blinker fluid? Dealer said they are out of stock! LMAO

Well i went back to Dealer and what i need is a relay for my plow lights that gets power from the battery instead of overloading blinker. When i installed this plow i asked Meyer's and a Meyer's dealer what i needed and all they told me was the headlight adapters It is good that the problem is solved now though. Thanks for the help and "blinker fluid".

What would cause a blinker (either) to function for 60-90 seconds and then stick on? Relay?

Text from SBK's (me) Work order...I did have codes but after so many key cycles in-between act ups it would clear. Don't know if this is the same issue for you or not. Mine would go crazy, left blinker turned on hazards, sometimes all would go dead, sometimes right would turn on the left.

Customer states intermittent turn signal operation.

Unable to duplicate no codes found at this time.

Called Mike Miller @ ###-###-#### and found no TSB for Multi-Switch, but the switch is under an engineering watch, was instructed to replace Multi-Function switch.
