bad injection pump?
bad injection pump?
My 1999 2500 ,24 valve, auto tranny, has a problem. It will start up cold and run "ok", a little surge on the start. When it warms up will die when you pull the transmission into gear. Brand new ATS tripple lok converter and trans co shift kit with high energy clutches. It was working fine for 700 miles after the tranny was done so i don't think it is the torque converter stalling the engine. Also after it is warm and it gets shut off it will not start untill the engine has cooled down to about 100 degrees coolant temperature. I have a mechanic looking at it right now and he thinks that it might be the injection pump. Also pulled out a code p0216. Is this a dead give away that the pump is bad? Lift pump has been replaced, no change. Any help would be great.
Sorry
P0216 is dead/dying VP44 injection pump. The fact that your lift pump needed replacing also kinda seals it. P0216 is set when injector timing fails due to bad circuitry inside the pump itself.
Sorry.
Sorry.
supertorquer, I just wanted to write you and thank you for pm'ing me and letting me know about ATS. Joel there walked me through how to re-wire my APPS directly to the PCM and my truck is cured from "Searching".
THanks to you, I won't have to replace my trans - at least for a while!
Good luck on your problem, I hope it's not actually the VP44 - YUCK! Let me know what you come up with, mine is probably next...?
