Exclamation Bad brake line.

Well found out the my brake line from front to back to rusted.
I was wondering if its just standerd line for replacment, or do these truck's have special kits.

Need to be fixed today. Of all days.

I can't imagine why you shouldn't be able to go to a local Advance Auto Parts, Napa, etc and get new line. I know that our local Advance Auto is now carying a line that has a polymer covering that wasn't available when I bought mine...just my luck. The only problem you will likely run into is if you don't have the tools to double flare the ends of the line. You can find the double flare kit at Sears, or, like I did, picked up a cheap set from Harbor Frieght which works just fine for someone who isn't flaring lines everyday. Take the existing line off and take it with you to match up the size of the nuts at the ends, the size of the tubing, and the length can determined at home...just take a couple inches of the ends of the line with the nuts. If you want, you may be able to piece together ready made lengths of line as opposed to making your own. Locally, I heard that piecing together lines are being frowned on during inspection, but, I don't know how true that is, or, if it may be a concern for your area. The first line I replaced on my truck I had to piece togother two lengths of line since I didn't have the flare tools then, and haven't had any problems with the line or anyone saying something about it during inspections. Either way, take the existing line with you to match up sizes.

Your more than like going to have to take the line off so they can see what ends need to be formed.

The local auto parts store should have a selection of brake lines ready with flares & fittings in various lengths... just bring your old ones in so the threads & lengths can be matched.

You can use "unions" to join brake lines together. You are not suppose to use compression fittings on brake lines!!
