Auto Transmission Shifter Adjustment

I just bought my truck and Im trying to fix the annoying things wrong with it.

The automatic transmission was recently overhauled (before I got it) and now you have to push up on the shifter before you can turn the key back to get the key out. Its not a big deal but the lady friend complains about it. (also the shifter moves down once you put the key in and turn it forward which should be the same adjustment)

My question is there anyone out there that has pictures of what I need to adjust so I can just turn the key back and pull the key out without having to hold the shifter up. Im not really a tranny guy. Thanks in advance for the help.

to be honest im not really sure how to.
is there an adjustment that can be made ?

I got underneath the truck and on the drivers side of the transmission it looks like theres cables that select what the tranny will do. I assume thats the linkage your referring to but im not sure what to adjust

There is a linkage rod with a locking bolt that can be adjusted. I forget how to properly adjust it off the top of my head, but it can be done.

had my tranny done also. now truck only edited by admin goes in park. sometimes stays in reverse instead of park. tranny guy says its the shifter linkage cable is stretched. he just showed me a bracket to lightly hit to move the cable so cable was tightened properly and now works fine

D is your shifter bracket, I wouldn't reccomend bending it. To the left of A is a spring loaded shaft. The shaft goes up and down from the column to the cross shaft. Yours looks pretty rusty so use a lot of PB Blaster or something and loosen the lockbolt, slide the shaft one way or another and tighten the bolt again. You may have to try several positions before getting it right. I've always done it by trial and error. I'm sure that it is in the FSM how to do it "by the book".
