I have had my truck for about 2 months and have had no problems. It is a 2001 CTD 2500 4x4 with 91k. Today on the way to work after stopping at a light the tranny stays in drive. If I manually shift it then it will start off in second even if the shifter is in the 1st gear position. No matter what I do it will not go into first gear. Driving home it did the same thing. It still feels solid and doesn’t have any slipping but it will not shift to a lower gear when the truck comes to a stop. The fluid is clean and full. Any ideas???

 

Sounds like something in te vicinity of governor pressure to me- does the speedo read right? Any lights or codes?<br>Best thing I know of is calling Bill K at DTT. <br>AlpineRAM

 

Same thing happened to me. Thought I had finally finished off the tranny. Took it to Dodge, all of the sensors and governors inside the tranny went bad. Basically, the electronics in the tranny died. That may be what happened to you. When it did to me, my truck would rev up, but wouldn't hardly go anywhere till about 20 mph. After about 20 mph, it would acclerate like normal.

 

I got a code P 1762 and called Bill at DTT. He says he knows what it is and will have it fixed in 1-2 hours after I get the truck up there tomorrow!
