My 01 cummins starts in 2nd then shifts to 3rd and thats it. Can any one help?

 

Tranny in limp in. Major fault. Read codes. Check fluid. Might be as simple as a solenoid or sensor.

 

I replaced all soleniods and swnsors in the trans

 

Cycle the key three time stopping at 'on'. Watch the odo window for the codes. Get back to us.
Did you replace the sensors on the valvebody?

 

did it all and not a thing

 

It has a DTT trans and some other mods if this is any help

get it scaned with a odb II scaner and poast the codes .

most autozone / autoparts store will scan it for free!

if po743 i think showes up then erase the codes and try driving and see if they return .

 

Can you manually pull into low and get low gear?
Again it appears tranny is in limp in and some electrical issue is causing.
In reviewing, you have takeoff in second and shift to third.
Can be manually dowshifted to low and will upshift when move lever.?????
It has reverse and there are no ugly sounds coming from tranny.
If above is correct, then really need to see a smart dealership and have tranny signals read. From your statements all solonoids, transducer, temp sensor, outside speed sensor have been covered.
Did this happen AFTER your VB or tranny change to DTT??? There was some part # changes between 99 and 2000(1)that will wear you out on tranny electronics.

i am by cleveland ohio, i can shift the truc into gears 1,2,and manually, the codes are P1693, P1694, and P0500

po500 vehicle speed sensor malfunction !

p1693 dtc detected in companion jtec mod

p1694 no bus message recieved from ecm mod

prob the speed sensor , i would erace the codes and test drive and see if it comes back !

 

my speedo is working
