Auto Tranny

On Tuesday my truck wasn't shifting gears right at all. I called my dealer and they thought it was the " Shift Sensors". Ok I drove over there and they replaced the sensors and it took care of the problem. The next day, which was Wednesday, I hooked up to a 20-foot gooseneck and hauled some Bulls for several hours. The tranny worked perfectly. Today while I was accelerating to get on the highway it went threw 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears perfect but when it finally shifted in to OD it jumped back out and the truck seemed like it was in neutral. It finally went in to OD so I drove home about 60 miles when I got close to home I started to jack with the tranny pretty hard and it seems to be having trouble with OD and OD only. It wants to jump out and it shifts into OD pretty hard. The problem is mainly occurring when I am on the pedal hard, but while I was running at about 50 mph in was shifting in and out. To make a long story short what could be causing this, could the new sensors be bad. When I took it in for the new sensors this week it was only 1st and 2nd gears causing the problems. Does the OD have it's own shift sensor??

Re:Auto Tranny

your problem sounds like the eletrical problem most of us have w/ the torque converter locking and unlocking for no reason, mine would do it alot at any speed...I put the DTT noise filter on recently and what a pleasure it is, it has yet to unlock when it shouldn't and it seems to shift better all around. Mine would do it more frequently when I had alot of accesories running, it would cause voltage spikes in the TPS wire from the ECM, not no more! If this is your problem, it's the best $35.00 you'll spend and it's cake to hook up...good luck
check out DTT under the links section "high-performance"

Re:Auto Tranny

Did you try the APPS reset procedure? It seems like this has cured some problems with torque converter lock/unlock. I would give it a try also.

Re:Auto Tranny

Does anyone have the link to buy this DTT Noise Filter? Also is this my problem if I am driving and when the truck is at low rpm's and I just barely let off the gas it jumps out of o/d then right back in again the minute i press a little hard or the pedal? It doesn't feel right but the dealer says its supposed to do that. For $35 why not try it u know.

Re:Auto Tranny

My truck will shift a lot when I'm on the low-end 30-50 mph. It has always done this, if yours is just starting to do this you might want to service your tranny and adjust the bands. When my shift sensors went out it didn't take long before I knew I had a big problem (like with in 30 miles or so). The dealer should be able to hook your truck up to the computer and tell you if it is the sensors.

Re:Auto Tranny

dodge4x4,
if they have checked the shift sensors also have them check the connectors on the on tranny and electrical connectors , Mine was full of water and shorted out nullifying OD at all . They are about a 15 dollar fix just have them check if they find rust that was the problem.

might not be the problem with yoursw but good luck and lemme know

Eric
