air dog not working

ok the passed day or so my airdog150 has seemed a little louder than normal. well i just stoped to get some fuel.(i get fuel at this location 2 times a week so i trust it to be clean) when i was leaving a light the truck was kind of cutting out and didn't have much power. so i pulled over right a way. the pump was not working, it was kind of warm, not hot at all.i pulled the filter, and tapped it on the road and it looked really clean. the fuel water separater had like 2 or 3 drips of water.

i checked all the wiring, fuses and iam stumped

any ideas ??

Did you do the new pick up tube with the Air Dog? I know you said you trust the fuel but it could be a possibility. Also, on my Air Dog there is a relay on the power side of the wiring. That could be a possibility as well. I would try giving the pump a direct 12 volt source taking the relay and all that stuff out of the equation. I think there is a 2 prong connector (red and black) a foot or two past the pump going to the relay. Disconnect there and apply the 12 volts. If the pump works than its electrical, if not possibly a bad pump. I hope this helps. From what I hear the Air Dog pumps are VERY reliable.

Do you have the low pressure light kit? If you do did it come on before you pulled over?

I would also loosen the water separator. That way you can check to see if the pick-up tube is plugged. If it runs and quitely, then you will know if its a pick up blockage.

Also you can remove the metal plate that covers the gearpump pull the gears out to see if there is any wear on them and test the pump with the gears out. I would also look at the filter on the pump unit. it is the part that the water separator screws into.

Good luck & keep us posted.
