ABS and Parking lights on

Two days ago the above lights came on and stayed on. I took my truck to the dealer and they found a rear wheel seal was leaking and they fixed that. However the two lights remain on. Not being technical they told me they would order a new switch (under the dash) and that should correct the problem. Has anyone had the same problem or know whats going on. My truck is a 1999 24v td.

Thanks

I also have a '99 that has both the "Brake" and "ABS" lights on and am not sure what is causing it. I am very interested in finding out what it is causing it.

Does the speedometer operate normally? If the speedometer only starts reading between 15 and 25 mph it is very likely the speed sensor in the rear axle. Costs about 40 and takes about 15 min to replace.

Yesterday the dealer replaced the sensor switch (18.00) in 15 minutes and the problem went away. Its located in the dash under the steering wheel. Make sure the nothing is leaking around the rear brakes. The rear brakes are easily checked.

Never did have a problem with the speedometer.

Re:ABS and Parking lights on

In the older models, sometimes the ABS fuse will corrode and the result is an all-time ABS and Parking light.

Does your receipt from the dealer have a part number of this switch? What is it called?

Re:ABS and Parking lights on

The part number on my receipt is 05016284AD and they just call it a switch. What I suspect is that if something triggers the sensors, the switch does not reset easily so they just put in a new switch. Make sure you check the rear brakes, that caused mine to come on the left rear was leaking oil and covered the brake. Good luck
