ABS now kicks in under light braking (just changed ball joints)
I finished changing both upper & lower ball joints yesterday at a buddies shop, on the way home I did a couple hard braking & the ABS kicked in in the front & pulled hard to the right. I figure some dirt got into the ABS sensor when I was putting it back together.
So my question is can I disconnect the front ABS lines or take out a fuse ??
I have a long road trip tomorrow so I dont want any surprises! I will take the front end apart but not until Monday so I wanted to see if I could "quick fix" the problem.
thx for any help boy&girls

You can pull the fuse without any problems except that the abs and parking brake warning lights will be lit all the time.
On some years just pulling the fuse for a minute will cause the lights to stay on even after the fuse is replaced until the code is erased by a scanner or you go though 60 engine start cycles.

Get ready for the know-it-alls who will tell you that the system is fine and that you need to adjust your driving habits. I pulled the fuse long ago, put electrical tape between me and the lights, and am much happier this way. Mine was so bad, that as much as I love my truck, I would have sold it if I could not have dissabled the ABS. To each his own, but in my opinion, the system is crap.
